CUFF IT
The pop-funk gem — joy as resistance, pleasure as political act
"CUFF IT" isn't the lead single, isn't the most critically discussed track, and isn't the one Beyonce promotes hardest. TikTok doesn't care.
"THIQUE" live from the Renaissance World Tour. While "CUFF IT" was conquering TikTok, "THIQUE" was conquering stadiums: the bass-heavy anthem that proved Renaissance's boldest production choices hit even harder live.
THIQUE
"THIQUE" is Renaissance at its most physical. The production is built almost entirely around bass, a low-end frequency that vibrates through your body before you consciously register the melody. Beyonce's vocal sits right on top of that bass, delivering the song's body-positive message with casual authority. Listen for the way the beat breathes: there's space between every kick drum, and that space is where the song lives.

The Slow Burn
"CUFF IT" peaked months after Renaissance's release, climbing charts while other album tracks faded. The song's second life started on TikTok, where the dance challenge turned a deep album cut into a cultural moment. By the time it reached the top ten, it had already been the soundtrack to millions of videos.
CUFF IT Takes Over
VIRGO'S GROOVE
At six minutes and nine seconds, "VIRGO'S GROOVE" is Renaissance's slow-burn masterpiece. Where "CUFF IT" is the singles-friendly hit, this is the album track for the headphones-in-bed crowd: a sprawling disco-funk odyssey that never rushes to get where it's going.
"CUFF IT" made the world dance, and the track right before it on the album made the world stop and try to figure out what it was hearing. Next, "ALIEN SUPERSTAR," the confrontational centerpiece of Renaissance.
